‘Shift’ represents a reflexive embodiment of the autistic state of contemporary society in which autism is understood to mean

a rejection of the world, evasion of reality through immersion in another dimension and the creation of a multiplicity of entities. 

Reality is perceived as frustrating owing to information overload and the variety of images,

and only tactile contact offers a chance to break away or lose oneself in the delusion that there is a way out.  

A momentary escape, departure from mundane reality, and immersion in contemplation of the world of sensations might become

a way to adapt to the modern world.
